Plot Summary
Rona is a 42-year-old woman, who left her family in Israel and moved to Japan. Yet as hard as she tried to be Japanese she failed and remains a stranger trapped in her previous world. She works as a family member for hire, creating an imaginary family for lonely Japanese men when in real life she is missing exactly that – her own family. In the beginning, a phone call from Israel turned her world upside down: Her sister Abigail has died. The film follows Rona through the most difficult time of her life. She is in denial of her sister’s passing – and in the end, she realized what she missed of these years and that the “family” she has created in Japan is not real.
